Another big move would be trying to get some more recognized talent. Sure it's great to create your own stars, but that can only really happen once you have your own audience. When you are trying to first attract an audience you need to bring in those name stars that will bring in the fans. When Vince wanted to launch the WWF nationally he didn’t create his own stars, he just went around and stole talent from every other promotion, primarily the AWA. Again, this is much easier said than done, but the NWA does currently have some recognizable names, particularly EC3 who I am shocked isn’t with a major promotion.
So the first thing I would do if I took over running the NWA would be to have EC3 win the NWA World Championship and every other title the promotion had. I would make him the number one biggest star and the face of the entire promotion. The next most recognizable face they probably have is Aron Stevens formally Dameon Sandow in the WWE. For whatever reason he is listed as a manager not as a wrestler, so I would have him become EC3’s manager and have them working together to carry the company.
Still, the greatest attraction this promotion has isn’t any of its talent necessarily, it's actually their World Championship belt, which is arguably the most important world title in wrestling history. It has the longest history and has been around through various different promotions, from WCW to TNA to even AEW. It even created the ECW title. This famous ‘ten pounds of gold’ should be the most sought after title in the business. Licensing it out to other promotions is a good way to get noticed.
I wouldn’t want to see the title leave the promotion and go to a wrestler in another promotion. But if a deal could be worked out to have the NWA World Champion go compete in a match in another promotion that would be great exposure for the NWA. I would try to get EC3 booked to compete in TNA and AEW against their World Champions if possible.
As I say about every promotion nowadays, I think the NWA has far too many championships, especially for such a small promotion. So to make the championships mean more I would reduce the amount of titles.
NWA United States Tag Team Champions The Slimballs vs NWA World Tag Team Champions The Immortals in a unification match. I would have the Immortals win and become the only Tag Team Champions in the entire NWA.
NWA World Women's Tag Team Champions TV-MA can remain. However, I would unify the women's singles championships: NWA Women's World Television Champion Tiffany Nieves vs NWA Women's World Champion Natalia Markova. I would obviously have Markova win as I think she is the biggest star of the NWA women’s division. I’m actually shocked she's not signed to a major promotion yet.Next I would want to remove the other ‘heavyweight champions’ as I feel that is too confusing with the Worlds Champion. First, I would have NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Slade vs NWA World Television Champion Bryan Idol. I would have Idon win the match unifying both titles as the TV Championship moving forward. Then I would have NWA National Heavyweight Champion Mike Mondo vs NWA Mid-America Champion Jeremiah Plunkett. I think Plunkett would get the win unifying those titles as the Mid-America Championship.
The NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship would remain the same as it is the most important title in wrestling. However, I would have Champion Silas Mason lose the title to a much bigger star in EC3 who would be managed by Aron Stevens. They should be the face of the promotion.
Each of those matches could have been a separate episode on the NWA YouTube channel and uploaded onto their website and social media for fans everywhere to see.
