Edge Has Been Completely Wasted In AEW

Since arriving in AEW, Adam Copeland has been a two time TNT Champion, but that is basically all he’s accomplished, which in my opinion has ...

Should The WWE Put On A WCW Event?

Is there still any interest in anything related to WCW? If the WWE held a WCW event now would it draw an extra interest? Imagine if next week when you tuned into Monday Night Raw the set was the old WCW Nitro set and it was as if you had gone back in time to the old Monday Night Wars and you were watching Monday Nitro… wouldn’t that be exciting?

Remember that one failed night when this was attempted, when Buff Bagwell had that infamously bad match with Booker T in the main event of Monday Night Raw, and as a result all future WCW ideas were cancelled? Well what if they gave that another chance now. They could use the retro Nitro night as a chance to announce the next upcoming PLE would be WCW Starcade rather than another generic WWE event.

The event should be held in an old WCW territory, such as Atlanta or Charlotte. They should try to feature as many old WCW stars as possible, and they could feature matches for all of the old WCW Championships as a throwback to the old WCW days.

WCW Cruiserweight Championship

When WCW folded in 2001 the last holder of the Cruiserweight Championship was Shane Helms, however, once in the WWE Billy Kidman defeated him for the title. Then technically, the last wrestler to hold that title was Hornswoggle. In order to correct this, I would have Rey Mysterio come out and challenge for the title. He could face either Helms or Kidman or both, with Hornswoggle possibly getting involved. This could ultimately set up a great match between Rey and Dominic for Rey to pass this torch to his son!

WCW Hardcore Champion

Meng was the last official WCW Hardcore Champion. Seems like it should have been Fit Finlay or Norman Smiley. They are the two I tend to think of when I remember that title. I would love to see the title brought back for one night and have Meng drop the title to Smiley so that he could have a match with R-Truth. I think this would be a hilarious match because Smiley was the most comedic wrestler in WCW in my opinion.

WCW Television Champion

"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan was the final WCW World Television Champion. This was done as a real joke as Scott Hall had thrown the title in the garbage and Duggan had found it when he was working as a janitor. This title deserves a much better ending. When I think of this title I think of some bad wrestlers like Disco Inferno, but I also think of big stars like Chris Jericho and Diamond Dallas Page. So for the sake of this title I would love to see someone like DDP come out and hit the Diamond Cutter on Duggan to win this title.

WCW World Tag Team Championship

The last wrestlers to hold the WCW World Tag Team Championship were The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von Dudley). The last wrestlers to hold the WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship were Billy Kidman and Rey Mysterio Jr., known together as part of The Filthy Animals. I would have both sets of titles on the line in a triple threat match with the current TNA Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz. I would have the Hardy Boyz win the match and all the titles.

WCW United States Championship

Edge (Adam Copeland) was the last wrestler to hold the WCW United States Championship, defeating Kurt Angle on the November 12, 2001, episode of Raw. However, on the final episode of Nitro it was Booker T. I think it would be really fitting if the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes came out and challenged for this title, ideally from a returning Edge. That would be incredible. Kurt Angle could be his corner, or his brother.

WCW World Heavyweight Champion

Booker T was the final WCW World Heavyweight Champion, winning the title on the last episode of WCW Monday Nitro on March 26, 2001, by defeating Scott Steiner. They should include other WCW World Champions as well, legends like: Ric Flair, Sting, Goldberg, Kevin Nash, and DDP as well all in attendance to be honoured that night. Then have the current WWE World Champion CM Punk come out to defend his title against a returning Seth Rollins, and the winner also gets the WCW ‘Big Gold’ belt. Punk wins!
