Since arriving in AEW, Adam Copeland has been a two time TNT Champion, but that is basically all he’s accomplished, which in my opinion has ...

AEW Has Too Many Championships

Ultimately, I think a big issue with AEW is that they have far too many championships, especially when you include all of the ROH titles as well. They should really try to reduce the amount of titles they have to make the ones that remain appear more valuable.

Is it Tony Khan’s plan to keep his wrestlers happy by giving everyone their own championship?

  • AEW World Champion
  • TNT Champion
  • AEW Continental Champion
  • AEW National Champion
  • AEW International Champion
  • AEW Women’s World Champion
  • TBS Champion
  • AEW Women's World Tag Team Champions
  • AEW World Tag Team Champions
  • AEW World Trios Champions
  • ROH World Champion
  • ROH World TV Champion
  • ROH Pure Champion
  • ROH Women’s World Champion
  • ROH Women’s World TV Champion
  • ROH Women’s Pure Champion
  • ROH Tag Team Champion
  • ROH World Six Man Champion

There are two ways you could reduce the amount of titles: either reduce each company separately, or have the two companies face each other, AEW vs ROH. It’s my understanding however that AEW basically uses ROH as its own minor league, much like how WWE has its NXT. So if that is the case, I would just reduce the amount of titles within each company.

I think the first major step in doing that is to do away with triples all together and just have the Trios and Six-Man teams face their respective tag-team champions and the winners would be the Tag-Team Champions in both AEW and ROH. For example: Adam Page and Jetspeede would face FTR in AEW.

Next I would reduce the women’s championships by having the respective champions face each other. So in AEW the Women’s Champion would face the TBS Champion. And in ROH the Women’s Champion would face the TV Champion and the Pure Champion. In the end, there would be one women’s champion in each company, as well as Women’s Tag-Team Champions in AEW.

Next, in ROH, I would do the same thing with the men’s titles and want to merge them all into one major title. So I would have the ROH World Champion face the TV Champion and the Pure Champion as well in a triple threat to crown one ROH Champion.

In AEW however, I think they can support two mens champions, but not the five they currently have. So I would keep the AEW World Champion as it is, but I would have the TNT Champion face the Continental Champion, the National Champion, and the International Champion to crown one secondary champion in all of AEW. At most you might be able to keep three, but how they ever got to five I don’t understand.
